Rakaia Rose
Senior Associate
Originally from the Kapiti Coast, Rakaia completed her law degree at Victoria University of Wellington where she graduated in 2016. Rakaia was admitted to the bar in 2017.
Rakaia excelled academically, obtaining numerous academic awards including ‘First’ in class for both Family and Commercial Law and 'Third' in class for Relationship Property Law. She was awarded the Bernard Randall Family Law Prize in 2016 and was included in the Dean’s List for academic excellence.
Whilst studying, Rakaia worked for the New Zealand Police Prosecutions Service, where she acquired a firm understanding of criminal Court processes.
Rakaia specialises in litigation and dispute resolution focusing in the Family Court. She has a broad range of experience in the Family Court and is a strong advocate for her clients. Rakaia is a legal aid lead provider for family matters.
Rakaia regularly appears in the Family Court and as such is recognised by Judges and her peers. She is experienced in acting for both applicants and respondents in a wide range of complex defended Family Court Hearings and Settlement Conferences.
Rakaia completed her Duty Solicitor training in 2019 and appears in the District Court as a Duty Solicitor. Rakaia has assisted Martin Hine (Director) on complex and challenging High Court criminal trials.
Outside of work you can find Rakaia on the netball courts, touch fields or volunteer coaching high school netball. Rakaia is a founding member of Papamoa Beach Sports Club and is a current committee member.
